The same goes for windows, you have to pay for Windows 7 or 8 however minor updates are free. And recent major Mac OSX Upgrades (Snow Leopard and Lion) have been $30. Yeah, this actually has no bearing on reality. The last two major system updates have been $30. Every other software update is free, unless you’re going out and buying specialized software.
